January 8, 2025:
McDowell Nature Preserve:
Yesterday morning, January 7, 2025, I went birding along the Piedmont Prairie Trail, located in McDowell Nature Preserve, about a half hour drive from my Charlotte, NC home.
It was quite brisk, but there was bright sunshine!
I was hoping to photograph a small flock of Red Crossbills that have recently been hanging out at this location.
However, unfortunately I did not encounter these birds, or any other unusual avian species.
So it goes!
Nonetheless, I had an enjoyable morning!
