McAlpine Creek Park Finale:
On this rainy day here in Charlotte, NC, to brighten things up a little, I would like to share a final set of images from our January 11, 2022, visit to McAlpine Creek Park:
Three photos of Canada Geese; Killdeer; Downy Woodpecker; Mallards; two shots of a Swamp Sparrow; and two images of Belted Kingfishers.
Enjoy!
Tomorrow morning, I plan to head out to Mexico, for several days of Humpback Whale watching around Cabo San Lucas, and a week of scuba diving in the Socorro Islands (a.k.a. the Revillagigedo Archipelago), which is especially renowned for friendly and highly intelligent giant Oceanic Manta Rays!
One way or another, it will be an adventure at this difficult time!
I hope to return with some compelling topside and underwater images to share.
We’ll see what happens!
Stay tuned!
In the meantime, be safe, and have a great day!

McAlpine Creek Park:
On the crisp, bright sunny morning of January 11, 2022, I joined a small amiable group from the Mecklenburg Audubon Society for a fun bird walk at our local McAlpine Creek Park.
Today, I’d like to share an initial set of my favorite images from this outing:
Two photos of a Barred Owl; Eastern Bluebirds; Hooded Mergansers; Pileated Woodpecker; two shots of an active Song Sparrow; Double-crested Cormorant; Yellow-rumped Warbler; and a Great Blue Heron.
Enjoy!
Stay safe, and have a great day!
