April 21, 2021:
Wood Ducks Rule At Pee Dee NWR!
Prior to my April 5th visit, I had never photographed a Wood Duck at the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge.
That changed dramatically during this outing!
In the early morning, near the viewing platform at the Sullivan Impoundment, there were at least eight or ten Wood Ducks pairing up, and flying between nearby trees, searching for possible nesting sites!
It was a thrill to observe and photograph this frenzied activity!
For your enjoyment today, I’d like to share several of my favorite shots of these beautiful Wood Ducks, with photos of two additional avian species thrown in:
Seven images of the Wood Ducks; what I believe is a Rusty Blackbird; and two photos of Red-headed Woodpeckers.
Enjoy!
Stay safe and have a great day!
