Dynamic Focusing Practice:
I am working on improving my ability to photograph fast and unpredictably-moving subjects, such as birds in flight.
My December 10th visit to our local Francis Beatty Park provided me with a perfect opportunity to practice my dynamic focusing technique.
Just after sunrise, when I arrived at the Park’s large pond, there were more than a hundred Double-crested Cormorants, about twenty Ring-billed Gulls, and three or four Great Blue Herons intermittently flying around!
They afforded me innumerable opportunities to attempt to photograph rapidly moving subjects.
For the most part, I was pleased with the results of these efforts!
Today, I would like to share several images of Double-crested Cormorants in flight, which I captured during this outing.
(If you look closely, you will note that the trailing Cormorant in the final photograph of this series is multitasking while flying!)
