Brevard, NC/Mills River, NC:
This past Saturday, August 29, 2026, I went birding with a small convivial group of excellent and experienced birders from the Mecklenburg Audubon Society.
We visited Ecusta Pond, located in Brevard, NC, as well as multiple sites in Mills River, NC, including the town park and adjacent sod farms, and nearby Westfeldt Park.
The highlight of the day was a Sabine’s Gull, a rare visitor to this region, which had been hanging out at Ecusta Pond for over a week!
