Carolina Raptor Center, PhotoWILD Program (Finale):

“Sebastian,” a male Red-legged Seriema, was the final raptor star of the recent PhotoWILD program at the Carolina Raptor Center.

“Bash,” as he is affectionately called, is a somewhat atypical appearing raptor, with an outsized personality!

Initially, he curiously and confidentally strutted around for a few minutes.

Then, when presented with a rubber Tyrannosaurus rex toy, “Bash” repeatedly bashed it into the ground, displaying an instinctual behavior normally utilized to pulverize captured prey.

“Sebastian” put on quite a show!

Here are several of my favorite images of this animated and amusing Red-legged Seriema.

Enjoy!

Stay safe, and have a great day!

“Dumbledore,” a male Great-horned Owl came first.

He put on a terrific flying display, providing many great photo ops!

Carolina Raptor Center, PhotoWILD Program:

This past Saturday morning, November 9, 2024, I once again had the pleasure of participating in a PhotoWILD Program at the Carolina Raptor Center (CRC), located in nearby Huntersville, NC.

During this two hour long event, four highly skilled members of the CRC staff presented a total of eleven raptors, eight perched, two flying, and one strutting, to our assembled group of about 25 photographers.

It was a mostly sunny morning, with generally excellent light, and the raptor stars of the show provided us with great photo ops!

As always, it was quite a fun way to spend a morning!

I’ll devote my next several posts to some of my favorite images from this PhotoWILD session.

Today’s two raptor stars are: “Surrey,” a male Barn Owl (Five Photos), and “Sadiq,” a male Lanner Falcon (Two Photos).

Enjoy!

Stay safe, and have a great day!
