Congaree National Park

Beltline Boulevard Wetland:

Last Sunday, following our birding walk at Congaree National Park, we made a brief visit to the Beltline Boulevard Wetland, about a 10 minute drive away.

The highlight of the wetland was an Anhinga rookery, with at least 7 active nests, and at least 22 Anhingas in the immediate vicinity!

Here are are few of my favorite images from our short wetland visit:

Five photos of Anhingas; two shots of a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher; a pair of Canada Geese; Red-tailed Hawk; and a Gray Catbird.

Enjoy!

Stay safe, and have a great day!

Congaree National Park:

This past Sunday, April 7, 2024, was a beautiful, sunny Spring day!

I spent the day birding with a small group from the Mecklenburg Audubon Society at Congaree National Park, located in Richland County, South Carolina, just over 100 miles from my Charlotte, NC home.

We had a great time, and encountered 39 different bird species!

Here are several of my favorite images from our visit to Congaree, National Park:

Three photos of a very cooperative Pileated Woodpecker; Hermit Thrush; three shots of two different Barred Owls; two images of two different Prothronotary Warblers; and a White-eyed Vireo.

Enjoy!

Stay safe, and have a great day!
