2022 Southern Lake Norman Christmas Bird Count:
Last Sunday, December 18, 2022, I had the privilege of joining three expert local birders for the annual Southern Lake Norman Christmas Bird Count!
It was a crisp, bright sunny day, with beautiful light!
We had a very solid day, encountering most of the avian species that we had hoped for!
As usual, I learned a lot from my generous and much more accomplished birding partners!
We began our morning at the Davidson College Ecological Preserve and Cross Country Trails.
I’ll devote today’s post, and the subsequent two, to some of my favorite images from this first phase of our day:
Three photos of a very cooperative and photogenic Hermit Thrush; Northern Flicker; Chipping Sparrow; a pair colorful of male House Finches; three shots of Dark-eyed Juncos; and an American Goldfinch.
Enjoy!
Stay safe, and have a great day!
