Good News!
The Barred Owls are using our owl box again this year!
A little while ago, I saw Mama Barred Owl go into the box!
I had been a concerned that they might not use the box this year, because briefly during the Winter, it was being occupied by Eastern Gray Squirrels, who brought sticks and leaves into the box.
Evidently, however, the Barred Owls don’t seem to mind! Yay!
We look forward to the likelihood of new Barred Owlet(s) this Spring!
In the meantime, I’d like to share several more images from the March 5, 2022, Mecklenburg Audubon Society outing at Fisher Farm Park:
Three photos of White-throated Sparrows; Eastern Bluebird; Yellow-rumped Warbler; Northern Mockingbird; Ruby-crowned Kinglet; and a Brown Creeper.
Enjoy!
Stay safe, and have a great day!

Fisher Farm Park Tree Swallow:
Yesterday morning, Saturday March 5, 2022, I visited Fisher Farm Park in Davidson, NC for the first time, for a fun Mecklenburg Audubon Society bird walk.
My favorite photographic subject was a Tree Swallow, which we encountered towards the end of the outing.
Swallows and Swifts are generally quite challenging to photograph in flight, due to their fast and erratic flight patterns.
However, this particular lovely Tree Swallow was using one of the many bird boxes placed throughout this attractive park, as its base of operations.
Consequently, while I was observing and photographing it, the Swallow kept returning to the box.
This made it significantly easier for me to attempt to capture in-flight images, and I was pleased with the resulting photos.
So today, I would like to share several of my favorite images of this photogenic bird, with an emphasis on flying shots.
Enjoy!
Stay safe, and have a great day!
