So, from my December 2nd visit to McAlpine Creek Park, today I would like to share five images of Pine Siskins.
To these I have added two photographs of Yellow-rumped Warblers, affectionately referred to by local birders as “Butter Butts,” and three photos of common, but still beautiful, Mallards.

Every Once In A While Mother Nature “Throws You A Bone!”:
On December 2nd, a lovely late Fall day, I returned to our local McAlpine Creek Park, and once again had a very enjoyable and productive visit.
I began my morning there, as I often do, at the Park’s beaver pond.
The light was beautiful, and a Great Egret and a Belted Kingfisher were hunting relatively close by. What a nice start to the day!
But it quickly got even better!
As I was observing and photographing the Egret and the Kingfisher, out of the corner of my eye I noticed a little commotion near the edge of the pond.
A Red-shouldered Hawk had decided to join the hunting party!
For the next few minutes, this impressive raptor caught a lizard and a snake, perching in between to devour its reptilian breakfast treats.
Thank you Mother Nature!
Today, I would like to share an initial sequence of images of this Hawk’s activities.
Enjoy!
Stay safe and have a great day!
