September 10, 2026:
McDowell Nature Preserve:
Yesterday, September 9, 2026, I returned to the Piedmont Prairie Trail at nearby McDowell Nature Preserve, for a morning of birding.
Although it wasn’t particularly busy, there were enough birds around to keep me and my camera occupied.
My favorite encounter was with a somewhat cooperative Prairie Warbler, which occurred towards the end of my walk!

Three photos of the Prairie Warbler; two shots of Indigo Buntings; and four images of Blue Grosbeaks; four photos of Red-headed Woodpeckers; Brown-headed Nuthatch; Northern Cardinal; Field Sparrow; Northern Mockingbird; and a Downy Woodpecker.
