September 11, 2024:
Lower McAlpine Creek Greenway:
Last Thursday morning, September 5, 2024, I joined a small Mecklenburg Audubon Society group at our local Lower McAlpine Creek Greenway, for the initial bird walk of the Fall migration season.
Initially, birds were sparse, and the lighting was problematic.
However, as the walk progressed, avian activity increased, and the ambient light improved!
A Great Blue Heron flew in right over our heads, and we also briefly encountered a group of 5 or 6 White-tailed Deer along the way.
I came away from this enjoyable morning with numerous decent images.
