Backyard Potpourri:
Today, for a brief diversion, I’d like to share a few images from our backyard, taken on August 8, 2021:
Four photos of an Anolis Lizard on the prowl; two shots of American Goldfinches in the Coneflowers (Echinacea); and four images of a Red-shouldered Hawk on the peak of our next-door neighbor’s roof at sunset.
Enjoy!
Stay safe and have a great day!

Our Barred Owlets Are Back!
The past two evenings, August 17th and 18th, our two Barred Owlets have visited our woods!
It was raining the first of these two evenings, so I didn’t spend much time with them.
Yesterday evening, however, it was clear, and we shared a much longer visit of about 1 1/2 hours.
Both Barred Owlets are looking and sounding remarkably grown-up!
They were very “chilled out.”
The Owlets were perched quite high and well-hidden in two trees about 100 feet apart.
They spent their time napping, preening, and stretching, in preparation for a night of hunting.
Neither flew down low to provide me with a better look and improved photo ops.
But that was OK.
It was great just to see them, and to note how much they have grown up since their last visit!
For your amusement, here are a few images of the Barred Owlets from yesterday evening.
Enjoy!
Stay safe and have a great day!
