Latta Park Spring Show!

On April 29th, I returned to Latta Park, ensconced in Charlotte’s Dilworth neigborhood, with a small group of Mecklenburg Audubon Society members.

Thanks to the advanced birding skills of several members of the group, (myself not included), we encountered numerous “good” birds during the course of a very enjoyable sunny morning walk.

I was lucky enough to spot a Scarlet Tanager, which I feature in today’s post!

At first glance, I thought that I was viewing a locally much more common Northern Cardinal.

However, I soon noticed that it had black wings, and realized that I was looking at a male Scarlet Tanager!

For you enjoyment, today, I would like to share an initial set of images from this outing:

Six photographs of the Scarlet Tanager; Cape May Warbler; a pair of House Sparrows; and a Hairy Woodpecker!

Enjoy!

Stay safe and have a great day!
