You Never Know:

One of the things that I like most about getting out in Nature, is that you never know exactly what to expect.

This was certainly the case during my January 28th visit to our local McAlpine Creek Park!

You just have to keep getting out there, and patiently observe what is going on around you.

As I often do, I started this outing shortly after sunrise, at the Park’s Beaver Pond.

Within a few minutes, I had the opportunity to observe and photograph a pair of Mallards mating on the pond, quite close to me, in the soft early morning light.

I had never photographed this before.

Pretty lucky!

You never know!

So, for your viewing pleasure today, I’d like to share a couple of images of this mating behavior, as well as a few additional photos of Mallards, and of three other birds, from this early morning at the Beaver Pond:

Two photographs of the mating Mallards; three additional Mallard images; Double-crested Cormorant; Great Blue Heron; and three photos of a Great Egret.

Enjoy!

Stay safe and have a great day!
